ABOUT
Polar Bear Music Club is an independent grassroots music venue and Community Interest Company in the heart of Hull.
From emerging local artists taking their first steps onto our stage to established touring acts from across the UK and beyond, we're here to bring people together through great live music.
Our home is the historic Grade II listed Polar Bear on Spring Bank, an intimate 200-capacity venue with a special place in Hull's music history
Alongside touring gigs and special events, we're home to some of the city's best-loved regular nights. The Sesh brings live music to our stage every Tuesday, continuing a 25-year tradition of championing new and unsigned artists. Wired takes over every Saturday night with an eclectic mix of underground hits and Polar Bear classics, while our monthly Polar Bear Jazz Club celebrates Hull's brilliant jazz scene.
MORE THAN A MUSIC VENUE
When Polar Bear closed during the pandemic in 2020, we weren’t ready to let that be the end of the story. With an incredible amount of love and support from Hull’s music community, we worked to bring the Bear back.
In 2021, we reopened as Polar Bear Music Club, a Community Interest Company with our artists, audiences and community at the heart of what we do.
Since then, we’ve remained proudly independent, doing our bit to keep grassroots music thriving and accessible in Hull.
Whether you’re here to discover your new favourite band, catch an artist you love, dance with us until 2:30am or just pop in and see what’s going on, this place is yours too!

By train or bus
Hull Paragon Interchange railway station is around a 15-20 minute walk from the venue, with regular bus services running along Spring Bank and stops just a few steps from our door. Check local timetables before travelling for the latest service information.
By car
We don't have our own car park, but street parking is available in the surrounding area, with paid car parks on Princes Avenue and around the city centre.
By taxi
We're just a short taxi ride from Hull city centre and Paragon Interchange, simply ask for Polar Bear on Spring Bank.
TRAVEL
ACCESSIBILITY
We want everyone to feel welcome at Polar Bear Music Club.
Our home is a historic building and unfortunately there are some limitations to its accessibility, but our team will always do what we can to make your visit as comfortable as possible.
GETTING INTO THE VENUE
Our event space is on the ground floor, with a small step at the entrance. We have a portable access ramp available for anyone who requires step-free entry. If you'd like the ramp ready when you arrive, or would like assistance entering the venue, please speak to a member of our team or contact us in advance at info@polarbearmusicclub.co.uk.
SEATING
Most of our gigs and events are predominantly standing. We have limited seating available and can arrange a seat for customers who need one. If you have any specific access requirements, please get in touch before your visit and we'll do our best to accommodate them.
ACCESSIBLE TOILETS
Unfortunately, due to the limitations of our building, we do not currently have an accessible toilet. The nearest accessible toilet is at Zoological, approximately two minutes from the venue on the corner of Spring Bank and Princes Avenue.
ESSENTIAL COMPANION TICKETS
If you require support from another person to attend an event, we can provide an essential companion ticket. Please contact info@polarbearmusicclub.co.uk in advance of the event and we'll help arrange this with you.
LIGHTING & SENSORY INFORMATION
Our live shows and club nights may use flashing, moving or strobe lighting and other lighting effects. If you have epilepsy, a history of seizures or any concerns about lighting or other sensory aspects of a particular event, please contact us before attending.
We'll be happy to provide as much information as we can about the event.

Safe space & Inclusivity
AGE POLICY
Our age restrictions can vary depending on the event, so please check the individual event listing before you visit.
Unless otherwise stated, our events are 18+.Some live music events are open to 14+, and where this applies it will be clearly stated on the event listing. Anyone aged 16 or under must be accompanied by a responsible adult aged 18+ for the duration of the event.
CHALLENGE 25
Polar Bear Music Club operates a Challenge 25 policy at the bar. If you're lucky enough to look under 25, please bring valid photo ID if you intend to purchase alcohol. We may also require proof of age where an event has an age restriction.
